At its foundation, it modifies the standard cart logic to support a custom catalog-based item system developed directly within Dynamics 365 Headquarters.To enable this new item architecture, a dedicated Inventory Availability API was introduced, ensuring real-time stock validation for catalog-specific items. Problem:

The standard eCommerce platform did not meet PeterHahn's specific requirements. Specifically:

  1. Standard shopping basket blog insufficient - The existing shopping basket blog could not map the catalogue-based item system required by PeterHahn.

  2. Lack of real-time availability check - There was a need for an accurate, up-to-date stock query specifically for catalogue-based items.

  3. Unclear discount structure - The previous way of displaying discounts across multiple items led to complexity and confusion in the ordering process.

 

Solution:

  1. Adaptation of the shopping basket logic - The platform was extended to integrate the customer-specific catalogue-based item system directly into Dynamics 365 Headquarters.

  2. Introduction of an Inventory Availability API - This enables real-time inventory checking for catalogue-specific items.

  3. Simplification of discount logic - All discounts are now summarised in a single order item, which simplifies processing and increases transparency.
