Drag & Drop for Microsoft Dynamics 365

File documents without extra steps

File documents without interrupting your workflow

In day-to-day work, valuable time is lost when documents first have to be saved locally, searched for again later, and then uploaded manually to Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&SCM. Drag & Drop eliminates these additional steps. E-Mail correspondence, PDFs, and external documents can be dragged directly into the open record and are immediately assigned to the correct data set. They are then stored automatically in Microsoft Azure Blob Storage. This keeps document filing fully integrated into the existing workflow, without saving files locally, searching for them again, or carrying out an additional upload.

More efficient processes in day-to-day operations

Fewer process steps

Documents no longer need to be saved locally, searched for again later, and then uploaded manually. Instead, they are filed directly within the existing workflow.

Store only relevant documents

Users can choose which documents are filed with each record. This keeps the documentation well organised and ensures that only the files actually required are retained.

Direct assignment to the relevant record

Users can remain in the current record without switching between different storage locations. This avoids unnecessary interruptions, reduces the risk of errors, and eliminates additional process steps.

Centralised storage

The selected documents are stored automatically in Microsoft Azure Blob Storage and remain linked to the relevant record. This makes them quick and easy to find whenever they are needed.

See Drag & Drop in action

In the demo video, you can see how documents are filed directly within an open record in Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&SCM. Users simply drag the file into the current record, where it is immediately assigned to the correct context. This eliminates the need for individual workarounds, supports compliance with governance requirements, and ensures that documents are stored centrally in an audit-compliant manner. The process also remains straightforward for users, as Drag & Drop is familiar from day-to-day work and intuitive to use.

How does drag-and-drop document archiving work in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management?

If a form or transaction is open in Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&SCM, the file can be dropped directly into it using drag and drop. There is no need to save it separately to the desktop, search for the correct record later, or upload it manually through several dialogue boxes. Once the file has been dropped in, the document is automatically stored in Microsoft Azure Blob Storage and remains linked to the relevant transaction.

Standalone or flexibly combined

Drag & Drop, Document Archiving, and Metadata Export can be used individually or combined flexibly.

This creates an archiving solution that adapts to your requirements, streamlines day-to-day processes, and remains transparent and traceable at all times.
Drag & Drop

Quick and easy archiving

Files such as E-Mail correspondence, PDFs, and external documents can be dragged and dropped directly into the relevant form in Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&SCM. They are then archived automatically in Microsoft Azure Storage. + High user acceptance thanks to simple, intuitive handling + Fast archiving of additional documents + Complete documentation of all business-relevant documents + Centralised storage of all relevant documents, including external files + Less time spent searching for files + Greater transparency + Extends automated archiving to include manually added documents

Document Archiving

Secure, centralised, and available at any time

With Document Archiving, supported reports such as sales invoices are automatically generated as PDFs and stored securely in Microsoft Azure Blob Storage. The solution is seamlessly integrated with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and runs automatically in the background. This reduces manual effort and provides a centralised, scalable archive. + Reduced manual archiving effort + Centralised and secure document storage + Support for audit-compliant archiving processes + Faster access to documents + Enables further cloud-based and automated processes + Use of existing Microsoft Azure infrastructure

Metadata Export

Structured, machine-readable data for today and tomorrow

Alongside the PDF, Metadata Export generates a structured XML file containing the relevant report information and archives both files in Microsoft Azure Storage. This makes the content available both as a visual document for users and as a machine-readable data source for interfaces, workflows, analytics, and third-party systems. + PDF and machine-readable data available together + Centralised access to documents and associated data + Easy integration with third-party systems + Support for BI, reporting, and analytics solutions + Basis for workflow and process automation + Improved data quality and more efficient processing + Ideal starting point for data warehouse, AI, and integration projects

Our products extend Microsoft Dynamics 365 with additional functionality. They are certified by Microsoft and available directly through Microsoft Marketplace.

How much time does manual document filing really take?

Individual tasks often take just a few seconds. But when repeated across many users, documents, and working days, these small delays add up to a significant amount of time. Using realistic sample calculations, our white paper shows how these hidden productivity losses can be quantified and what efficiency gains Drag & Drop can deliver within just 30 days.
